A municipal patrol was involved in a serious traffic accident after colliding with a tree during a chase in the Santiago commune, Metropolitan region. The accident occurred on Wednesday night at the corner of Lira and Maule. According to reports, the municipal vehicle, which had four inspectors on board, was pursuing a motorcycle thief who had just stolen a cellphone from a pedestrian.
For reasons still under investigation, the driver suddenly lost control of the vehicle and crashed violently into a tree. As a result of the impact, electrical wires also fell to the ground. Regarding the municipal officials, it has been reported that they are in good health, none of them in critical condition, although the driver has sustained significant injuries.
So far, no one has been arrested, and the whereabouts of the motorcycle thief are being investigated.
