CESFAM Dos de Septiembre promotes healthy eating among schoolchildren By María José Villagran Barra March 27, 2026 Nutritionists conducted an educational session at the Manuel Blanco Encalada school, highlighting the role of snacks in the health of children. The CESFAM Dos de Septiembre, through its team of nutritionists, provided information about the importance of healthy snacks at the municipal school "Manuel Blanco Encalada. " Through this interactive event, students and their teachers were able to reinforce the fundamental importance of consuming foods that provide nutrients and to minimize the consumption of ultra-processed products high in sugars, sodium, calories, and saturated fats, explained Kharla Ruiz, one of the nutritionists from the family health center.

"As a team of nutritionists from CESFAM Dos de Septiembre and in coordination with the ‘Manuel Blanco Encalada’ school, we carried out the activity to promote healthy snacks. This was primarily aimed at encouraging healthy eating from childhood, as an important component of this diet is the snacks that children consume daily. " This is particularly relevant considering that, in the family health centers of the municipality, there is a high prevalence of overweight or obese children at increasingly younger ages.

"We must keep in mind that, in our country, the figures for overweight children and adolescents have been rising for quite some time. Therefore, the work we have, tirelessly promoting healthy eating and healthy lifestyles in schools, workplaces, and homes, becomes even more significant," she emphasized. Games, contests, and a demonstration of these types of snacks—based on fruits, vegetables, dairy, nuts, proteins like eggs, whole grains, and water for hydration, consumed between main meals—were part of this activity, where children learned and had fun.
