After just over three months of work, Mayor Camila Nieto officially handed over the restored Neptune Fountain to the community, located in Aníbal Pinto Square, one of the most traditional spaces in the city's plan. The reopening marks the recovery of one of the most representative elements of the urban heritage of Valparaíso, restoring its value as a meeting point for citizens since the late 19th century. Public investment to recover spaces of high social value The initiative involved a total investment of $135,807,901, financed by the Undersecretariat of Regional and Administrative Development through the High Social Value Spaces Recovery Program (PREAVS).
This project also includes the restoration of the fountain located in Victoria Square, reinforcing the commitment to the conservation and improvement of key public spaces for the community. ” Collaborative work and new investments on the way For her part, Susanne Spichiger, regional head of Subdere, stated that this initiative is part of a broader urban recovery plan, which in the sector includes investments close to $1. 5 billion, to be delivered in the coming months. Merchants value the impact on tourism and reactivation The reopening was also celebrated by local merchants, who see this project as an opportunity to strengthen tourism and economic activity.
Jenny Rojas, manager of Poseidón Restobar, highlighted that this restoration was anticipated by both residents and merchants, noting that it will help reactivate the flow of visitors to one of the most emblematic points in Valparaíso.
