During an interview this morning on the program "Buenos Días Región" by Polar Comunicaciones, the administrator of the Sara Braun Municipal Cemetery, César Gallardo, informed the public about various relevant aspects of the site, in the context of the recent commemoration of its 132 years of history, celebrated on April 9. During the conversation, Gallardo highlighted the size of the cemetery, noting that to date, nearly 69,000 deceased individuals have been registered. He also specified that the cemetery covers an area of approximately 10 hectares, of which about 8 hectares are currently in use.
Regarding its infrastructure, he recalled that in October 2002, the crematory oven began operations, which allowed for expanded options for families. Additionally, he detailed that there has been significant progress in terms of heritage registration, with 9,443 graves incorporated into a photographic database, as part of maintenance, painting, and conservation work on mausoleums. This process is carried out by a technical unit responsible for recording individuals who undertake such interventions.
In terms of security, the administrator indicated that the site currently has 20 surveillance cameras installed, with plans to incorporate another 20 cameras in the future, thus reinforcing the security conditions of the location. Finally, the community was informed about the opening of a public competition for the position of cemetery worker, with three vacancies available, a process that is published on the official website of the site.
