The Los Libertadores Border Complex announced the preventive suspension of international transit for all types of vehicles starting this Friday, April 10, due to adverse weather conditions in the high mountains. The measure was adopted following coordination between authorities from Chile and Argentina, based on reports warning of climatic instability—mainly snowfalls—that prevent safe circulation, especially in the Argentine sector of the border crossing. According to the statement, the barriers will be closed starting at 1:00 PM in Chile and 2:00 PM in Argentina, at the Guardia Vieja and Uspallata complexes, respectively.
Meanwhile, the international tunnel will be closed at 3:00 PM in Chilean territory and at 4:00 PM on the Argentine side. Authorities indicated that any updates on the road status will be communicated promptly through official channels, and urged users to monitor conditions before embarking on their journey. They also recommended following the official accounts of the border system to stay informed about potential changes in the situation at the crossing.
