Carabineros announced a special deployment on highways to monitor traffic and prevent accidents during Holy Week, a period projected to see a high number of vehicles leaving the Metropolitan Region. General Víctor Vielma reported that there will be active and permanent police presence on the main routes of the country, aiming to check drivers for violations. The controls began this Friday at the Terminal Sur Alameda.
The head of the Traffic Zone reminded that during Holy Week last year, seven people died in traffic accidents, urging drivers and pedestrians to travel responsibly and cautiously. For this long weekend, authorities estimate that around 450,000 vehicles will leave Santiago for various regions of the country, reinforcing the need to enhance safety measures on the roads.
