The comedian and his family accused medical negligence in the death of his wife. The woman arrived at the medical center due to stomach pain. Juan Carlos Donoso, a member of "Los Atletas de la Risa," reported that the medical center was negligent in the care of his wife, who passed away early Wednesday morning.
The family went to the Police Investigations Department to file a complaint regarding the incident. They spoke with a morning show on Chilevisión, providing details about what happened. The Hospital de Urgencia Asistencia Pública responded to the allegations through an official statement, expressing their condolences for Myriam's death.
According to the hospital, "the patient was admitted on Tuesday night to the Emergency Service, where, after an initial evaluation, she was diagnosed with severe acute pancreatitis, receiving medical attention appropriate to her health condition. " They added that "during her evolution, the patient experienced severe decompensation, which led to a cardiorespiratory arrest. Despite the resuscitation efforts by the clinical team, her death was confirmed in the early hours of Wednesday.
" In response to the family's concerns, they stated, "We have instructed a review of the clinical and administrative records of the case to clarify what happened. " They assured that "we reiterate our willingness to cooperate with the family in all relevant instances and provide all necessary information in the processes deemed appropriate. " What happened to "El Guatón's" wife from "Los Atletas de la Risa"?
In an interview with the CHV morning show, the family shared a dramatic account of the difficult moments they experience…
"My wife started to have failures... but I don't understand much," Donoso explained, and then his daughter Sandy provided more details: "They only monitored her with a pulse oximeter and threw her into the waiting room, then into a box. We switched with my sister, and I stayed with her," the young woman said.
"Then a nurse came and put a small IV with medication, and I asked if she could turn off the air conditioning because my mom was very cold, and they told me no because 'the service would run out of air,'" she added. After that, she claimed that the vital signs monitoring was incomplete as they did not notice her mother was hypotensive and hypothermic (she registered 34. 7), and they did not check her respiratory rate, which she believed was abnormal.
According to the family, Myriam was diagnosed with pancreatitis but did not receive the appropriate care, leading to a cardiac arrest. Due to the lack of action from the health professionals, it was her daughter who performed resuscitation maneuvers on her mother. "When I started doing strong chest compressions while she was in a box, the machine turned red...
At that moment, I began to perform CPR. It's tough to have to resuscitate your own mother, and they (the nurses) were super slow, calm, while I was doing CPR," lamented the daughter of the "Los Atletas de la Risa" member. Juan Carlos Donoso reported that while in the health service, he saw many professionals resting and not fulfilling their duties.
"Maybe with how many people they have done it, at the first arrest they said she had already come out of that state, but for me, my wife was already gone," lamented the comedian from "Los Atletas de la Risa. " During the account, they explained that the woman was transferred to another room after suffering a cardiorespiratory arrest, and after some time (about half an hour), they were informed that she had been intubated. However, later a doctor came out to announce the woman's death after a second arrest.
According to the family, Myriam had previously received proper care during similar episodes. Thus, they filed a complaint for negligence with the Police Investigations Department. "That's how life is, but we have to report it.
To everyone, to all the people, they have to report when something like this happens," said "El Guatón" from "Los Atletas de la Risa.
