R. , a 26-year-old woman, attended a Soda Stereo concert at the Movistar Arena and was returning home with two friends when she was struck by a stray bullet during gunfire in San Bernardo. This incident occurred amid disturbances related to the Day of the Young Combatant.
The young woman and her companions had just gotten off the Metro and were walking along Avenida Lo Blanco when, according to a witness, they noticed a police patrol and heard gunshots. It was then that the victim told her friend that one of the bullets had hit her, causing her to fall to the ground. "Oh friend, I was shot," she said.
In response, they began to scream, and neighbors came out to help her and took her to El Pino Hospital. There, it was determined that the bullet entered through her abdomen and exited through her back, and she is currently out of life-threatening danger. The Metropolitan Prosecutor's Office of the West is conducting the investigation, and it has been established that police officers did not fire any shots.
A 30-day police protection order has been issued for the victim, both at her home and workplace.
