A serious case of domestic violence was uncovered in the Las Condes commune, in the eastern sector of the Metropolitan Region, after a 47-year-old woman managed to escape from her abuser following months of sustained mistreatment. The investigation, instructed by the Eastern Flagrancy Prosecutor's Office and carried out by the O. S.
9 Department of Carabineros, originated from a report made by the victim herself on Wednesday, March 25. According to the information, the woman had been living with the accused since December 2025, a relationship that began after they met through social media but eventually turned into a scenario of systematic violence. According to the report, the victim had been held in the home by the man, who restricted her movements and kept her isolated.
In this context, she was subjected to constant physical assaults, death threats, and episodes of extreme violence, including attempts at suffocation, creating a prolonged coercive control situation. The situation reached its most critical point on March 25, when the accused intensified the assaults and threatened to kill her and burn the property. Taking advantage of a moment of carelessness, the woman managed to flee the location and went to a Carabineros unit, where she filed a report that immediately activated investigative protocols.
Subsequently, the Public Ministry obtained a detention order, along with a search and seizure order for the abuser's home. Thus, in the early hours of March 26, O. S.
9 personnel, with support from GOPE, carried out an operation at the residence located in Las Condes, successfully detaining the accused at the scene. The detainee, a 49-year-old man, had a criminal record and outstanding arrest warrants for offenses related to domestic violence and threats. Meanwhile, the victim presented various injuries of moderate severity, confirmed at a medical facility, including bruises, cuts, and wounds consistent with repeated assaults over time.
Additionally, knives and other relevant items were seized at the scene, which were sent for specialized forensic analysis. By instruction of the Public Ministry, the accused was placed at the disposal of the competent court for his detention control, while investigations continue to fully clarify the facts. In this regard, Lieutenant Felipe Cortés of the OS9 Department confirmed that "in coordination with the Public Ministry, we achieved the detention of a person linked to a crime of kidnapping and attempted femicide in the Las Condes commune.
