On the morning of Thursday, April 2, the event "Plaza Ciudadana: Infinite Diversity" took place in Punta Arenas, commemorating World Autism Awareness Day. The activity was organized by the Regional Autism Table along with the National Disability Service (Senadis), aiming to promote the full inclusion of autistic individuals. The event was held at the Lions Club Cruz del Sur Rehabilitation Center and featured the participation of regional authorities, including the Health Secretary, Fabián Barrientos, the regional director of Senadis, Bernarda Cares, and representatives from the Rehabilitation Corporation.
Under the slogan "Autism and Humanity: Every Life Has Value," the event brought together various public services that provided information about available resources in the region. It allowed families and individuals interested in learning more about support and programs to access tools and guidance. During the activity, there were artistic performances, such as that of the vocal group from the León Humberto Seguel Labor Training Center, as well as an experiential dynamic led by the PRAPS program of the Municipal Corporation.
The latter aimed to foster empathy regarding sensory overload and regulation strategies in children and adolescents. The Regional Autism Table, composed of various ministries and services, reaffirmed its role as a space for intersectoral coordination to advance an inclusive culture, strengthening collaborative efforts in the region.
