The singer and producer has just released a 10-track album that redefines the urban genre through the surgical use of samples from contemporary Chilean folk music. Fernando “Tano” Ponce (29), musician, producer, and composer, announces the launch of his most personal and ambitious album to date: “FLOW CL. ” Based in the Ñuble Region, Tano presents a work that does not fuse trap and folklore but proposes a new sonic identity that aims to compete on the most demanding stages in the world.
Unlike other urban artists, Tano Ponce maintains a sustained connection with root music. He has been part of folk groups such as Medialuna de Amores, Aires de Ñuble, Acordes del Alma, and Los de Marín, within which he has demonstrated his versatility as a producer by collaborating on hits like “La Propuesta” (by Medialuna de Amores featuring Jordan) and as a composer for cumbia ranchera figures like Gregory Godoy. Additionally, in 2025, he stood out in the TV program “Mi Nombre Es,” where he portrayed Germaín de la Fuente.
This same versatility has taken him to stages in France, Germany, Austria, Hungary, and Portugal, highlighting his recent tour in 2025 with the Municipal Folkloric Ballet of Rancagua at the most prestigious folk festivals in Europe, such as FolkMonçao and the Folklore Days in Ourense. “FLOW CL”: Identity Crafted with Precision Under the Flow de Raíz label—a company founded in 2018 dedicated to researching new musical aesthetics through the reinterpretation of folklore—this work emerges, distancing itself from established styles. This company, creator of the Corte Chilenero laboratories in 2021 and promoter of the kukoh genre, proposes with this album a meticulous production, where the artist uses sampling as a precision tool.
“I decided to call it ‘FLOW CL’ because it is a declaration of principles: I present identity. The sampling work was done practically with a scalpel,” explains the artist. The DNA of the album resonates with influences from Orquesta Punta ‘e Diamante, Marparaíso, and Silvanita y los del Quincho, integrating Tano's everyday life into a base of urban sounds and Latin American folklore.
With collaborations connecting Linares, San Javier, and Santiago with Spain, Argentina, and even the United States, the album features the pre-released singles “Folkstar” (with Edü) and “Mi Chilenita” (with Ki Taíto, his producer), the latter already available on YouTube. “It’s a work done with humility, but with the absolute certainty that the sound we achieved competes anywhere in the world. It’s about giving a designation of origin to a personal vision,” concludes Tano.
National Tour 2026 During the second half of this year, Tano Ponce will embark on a national tour to present the album in various locations, traveling through Santiago, Rancagua, Concepción, Temuco, and Valdivia, culminating with a show in the city where he grew up, Puerto Montt. The album “FLOW CL” is now available on all digital platforms.
