More than a week after the deadly attack at the Obispo Silva Lezaeta Institute in Calama, the family of Haydée Moya provided an important update on the official's health status. It is worth recalling that on March 27, an 18-year-old student entered the establishment, killed an inspector - María Victoria Reyes - and injured a staff member and three other students. Hermán Meneses has been charged with the completed homicide of the inspector, as well as four counts of attempted homicide and possession of weapons.

He is currently in preventive detention. According to 24 Horas, Haydée Moya's family confirmed through a statement that the official is no longer in critical condition. "Although she remains in delicate condition, under medical care and constant evaluation by the health team, she is out of vital risk," they stated.

The family expressed gratitude for the expressions of support they have received throughout the country and emphasized the need to strengthen security measures to protect staff. In this regard, they asserted that what happened "is an urgent wake-up call to ensure safety conditions that allow those who work in education to perform their duties with the certainty that they will go out to educate and return home safe and sound. " Along with sending a message of solidarity to the family of one of the injured students, Haydée Moya's family also requested respect during this challenging time they are facing.

"We ask for respect and understanding during this difficult moment, safeguarding our family's privacy. We will be providing updates through official channels," the statement concluded.
