The parliamentarian warned that the complex fiscal scenario is largely a consequence of the measures adopted by the previous government, which is why she requested that current decisions incorporate criteria of territorial equity. Deputy Alejandra Valdebenito held a meeting this Thursday with the Minister of Finance, Jorge Quiroz, amid concerns about the fiscal scenario facing the country and the measures the Executive is considering implementing to address it. After the meeting, the parliamentarian emphasized the importance of advancing responsibly in economic matters, noting that the current context is largely due to decisions made during the previous government administration, which today requires careful measures to be adopted.

“As someone from Aysén, I know the real impact this fiscal adjustment will have on our daily lives. We know there is a complex fiscal situation and that urgent measures are needed, which the government has already begun to implement,” she stated. In this regard, Deputy Valdebenito stressed that the conditions in Aysén require looking at these decisions from a different perspective.

“We also know that in Aysén the conditions are different, and therefore the solutions must address that reality. It is essential that any measure considers mechanisms that protect the extreme regions,” she indicated. Furthermore, the parliamentarian emphasized that, in her role as a member of the Commission on Extreme Zones of the Lower House, she brought this proposal directly to the Minister of Finance.

“That is why I met with the Minister of Finance today, to clearly present the reality of Aysén and propose that the measures incorporate differentiated mechanisms for regions like ours,” she added. Finally, the deputy reaffirmed her commitment to continue working to ensure that the voice of Aysén is present in national decisions.
