The Municipality of Lo Espejo announced that it dismissed a total of 40 officials who traveled abroad while supposedly on leave at home, supported by medical licenses. The investigations against these workers began as soon as the report from the Comptroller General of the Republic (CGR) was published, an institution that revealed that more than 25,000 made trips abroad using medical certificates to avoid fulfilling their work duties. Regarding this matter, the acting mayor of Lo Espejo, Felipe Droguett, stated that "when we learned of the news, our mayor Javiera Reyes decided to start the process immediately.

" "The correct use of resources and integrity are fundamental to providing a better quality of life for people. Our municipal management is based on that principle," added Droguett. Finally, the acting municipal chief said that "it is very positive for the State to strengthen its oversight role through mechanisms that allow public management to be more efficient and more transparent.

Along with that, establishing higher standards for public management, so that we can ensure that the resources of all Chileans are well used.
