A serious allegation of alleged child sexual abuse has caused shock in the school community of La Serena, in the Coquimbo region, after a mother of a 7-year-old boy accused that her son may have been a victim of an attack within his educational institution. According to the account of the guardian, the incident reportedly occurred during school hours at the American School of La Serena, located in the Las Compañías area. According to her testimony, it was the school itself that contacted her around 3:30 PM to request that she pick up her son, claiming that the minor had urinated.
However, upon arriving at the location, the situation took an unexpected turn. The mother indicated that the boy confessed to her that he had been locked in a bathroom by other students. “He told me that some kids locked him in and were watching him,” she recounted.
Concern grew once they returned home. The woman stated that while changing his clothes, she noticed signs that made her suspect possible abuse. “When we got home, while changing his clothes, his boxer was pulled down on one side… Upon checking the boxer, it was full of semen (SIC), his pants were all wet,” she claimed.
She also stated that the minor showed physical signs in his intimate area, which prompted an immediate medical consultation. “He was touched because he was very touched; his intimate area was swollen. They had to give him a lot of antibiotics in case there was any infection,” the complainant added.
In this regard, the mother also criticized the school's response, accusing it of a supposed lack of diligence. “They ke…
Additionally, she claimed that the school questioned the truthfulness of the boy's account, referring to the lack of camera footage at the indicated time. “The school mocks because they say that at the time my son says it happened, the cameras are not working… they say my son is a liar,” she stated. The guardian confirmed that the case has already been reported to the Police Investigations (PDI), and the corresponding procedures have begun to clarify the facts and determine any responsibilities.
“I have medical papers; he was examined by a pediatrician, a doctor, a psychologist, I’m in PDI, so I don’t know how my son could be lying,” she asserted. For its part, the American School of La Serena issued a statement urging caution and not to spread information without official confirmation. They indicated that the case is under investigation and that the established protocols for such situations have been activated.
Furthermore, the institution stated that a report of violation of the minor's rights has been filed and that, as a preventive measure, the students allegedly involved have been temporarily separated from their activities while the investigation is ongoing. Authorities continue to gather information to clarify what occurred within the institution.
