The Regional Presidential Delegation of Coquimbo confirmed the appointment of the first regional secretaries who will join the cabinet in the area as part of the process of installing the new government team. In this first stage, Jovanka Rendic Véliz was appointed as the Secretary of the Environment, Marcelo Salvo Meneses in Education, and Martín Argaluza Olaeta in Economy, Development, and Tourism. According to the presidential delegate, Víctor Pino, the appointments aim to form a team with experience and knowledge of the territory to tackle the main challenges of the region.
Regarding their backgrounds, Jovanka Rendic is a fisheries engineer and industrial civil engineer, with experience in public management related to the fishing and environmental sectors. Marcelo Salvo is a state-certified teacher with an MBA and a master's degree in Higher Education, accumulating over 35 years of experience in academic management and leadership positions in various higher education institutions. Meanwhile, Martín Argaluza is a commercial engineer with an MBA, with over 30 years of experience in mining-port projects and in the electric distribution sector, excelling in investment management and team leadership.
With these appointments, the regional cabinet begins to take shape, which continued to be completed on Wednesday afternoon with the appointment of Karen Iribarra (Health) and Carlos Dugald (Housing and Urbanism).
