During the night of this Monday, the Minister of Finance, Jorge Quiroz, announced a historic increase in fuel prices. According to the information provided, gasoline will rise by $370, while diesel will increase by between $570 and $580 per liter. The measure will take effect starting this Thursday, March 26, and is a result of the increases in oil prices recorded in recent weeks due to the conflict in the Middle East.

"We are facing a war of very large magnitudes and with very difficult consequences for the energy world. It has been classified as an energy and fuel price shock," the minister expressed in a conversation with 24 Horas Central. "It has a huge effect on international prices.

In just 3 weeks, the international price of diesel has risen by 60% and gasoline by 30%," he added. Quickly, various drivers, upon learning of this announcement, rushed to different gas stations to fill up before this significant increase, creating long lines that have stretched for several meters.
