A day of violence was experienced in various parts of Santiago during the commemoration of the Day of the Young Combatant, with one of the most serious incidents occurring in San Bernardo, where a woman was shot amid clashes between protesters and police. The incident took place at the corner of Lo Blanco and Padre Hurtado, where the victim, a local resident, was returning home after attending a concert in the city center. Upon descending at the Hospital El Pino Metro Station on Line 2, she encountered the disturbances and, in that context, was preliminarily shot in the chest, the origin of which is still under investigation.
After the shooting, the woman was urgently transported to Hospital El Pino, located just a few meters from the incident site, where she underwent surgery and her condition has improved favorably, despite initially being in critical condition. Looting in Huechuraba In the context of the incidents, a mob of approximately 20 people attacked municipal facilities adjacent to the Cesfam La Pincoya and the 51st Police Station of Carabineros. The individuals stole computers valued at 8 million pesos and a safe containing documents and gas vouchers worth 10 million pesos.
Although they also attempted to enter the Local Police Court and the health center, the security measures in place prevented greater damage. "Once they entered the premises, they specifically targeted a department that is more administrative in nature, adjacent to the main health center. There, using force, they broke the partitions, the glass, and entered to steal," reported prosecutor Javier Mayer from the Metropolitan North Prosecutor's Office.
