Transport Ministry Confirms Continuation of Transportation for Northern Punta Arenas with Same Fares and Frequencies The Regional Secretary of Transport and Telecommunications of Magallanes confirmed the continuation of public transport service that serves the peri-urban northern sector of Punta Arenas, ensuring that the same frequencies and fares will remain in effect. The service covers areas such as Barranco Amarillo, Río Seco, Ojo Bueno, Varillas subdivisions, and Vrsalovic, benefiting hundreds of residents who rely on this connectivity daily. Authorities informed that during the holiday weekend, the service will operate with holiday frequencies, while starting Monday, it will return to full normality without any changes to the current schedule.
Specifically, the Río Seco–Punta Arenas route includes 24 frequencies, of which 11 pass by the Clinical Hospital of Magallanes and 13 by Zona Austral. In the reverse direction, Punta Arenas–Río Seco, the service has 22 frequencies, with 9 of them passing by the hospital and 13 by the Free Trade Zone. Regarding the schedules, the first service from the northern sector departs Monday to Friday at 07:00 hours, while the last return trip from the rural stop Mina Loreto is at 22:00 hours, maintaining this schedule throughout the week.
The Regional Secretary of Transport and Telecommunications, Allan Stowhas, held a meeting this week with community leaders from the affected areas, where the continuity of the service was discussed, and the final information was confirmed this Thursday.
