19 officials from Coronel are dismissed for traveling outside Chile while on medical leave During the Municipal Council session on April 7, Mayor Boris Chamorro confirmed the dismissal of 19 officials following the conclusion of an investigation prompted by observations made by the Comptroller General of the Republic. The measure responds to an investigation that found municipal workers traveled abroad while on medical leave, a situation that violates current regulations. The origin of the case dates back to an audit by the oversight body, which initially identified 42 officials in this irregular situation.
However, by the time the administrative investigation began, nine of them were no longer part of the municipality. Thus, the investigation focused on 33 active workers, whose cases were analyzed in detail to determine potential administrative responsibilities. Sanctions: dismissals, suspensions, and fines After concluding the process, the municipality defined a set of sanctions of varying severity, based on the information gathered: The municipal authority emphasized that the resolutions were made based on the information provided by the Comptroller's Office and the development of the internal investigation.
Once notified, the sanctioned officials have a period of five business days to file appeals. They can also resort to judicial instances, such as a protection order, if they seek to overturn the measures taken. Investigation into parallel work in Health In parallel, the municipality opened a new investigative front involving three officials from the Health Department.
According to preliminary information, these workers allegedly issued a total of 14 invoices while on medical leave, which could constitute a new administrative violation.
