On Saturday, March 28, at the Casa de la Cultura in the Municipality of Pelarco, a meeting of Maulina singers was held, organized by the Gender Commission of the commune. The event featured Mauricia Saavedra, Caro Carrera, and Laura Villalobos, three singers from Maule with notable careers in both the local and national scenes. "We have followed their work and consider them important representatives of singing and the voice of women in the territory," said Mónica Muñoz, a member of the Gender Commission.

The initiative aimed to conclude Women's Month with an activity that brought together the women of the commune around rural and urban singing. "One of the goals of our commission is to create opportunities for personal development and gathering for the women in the area, as well as for those who have come from other places to live in our land, thus facilitating their integration," Muñoz emphasized. "We feel that, in general, the work of women in music is not visible in various municipal activities.

Most stages call for male musical projects, and we wanted to make a difference by inviting these three representative singers from Maule," added Mónica Muñoz. The Gender Commission of Pelarco has been operating since 2024 and is composed of four women from the commune. Its goal is to promote opportunities for gathering, reflection, workshops, learning, and cultural activities aimed at addressing the various issues faced by women in the territory.

It is worth noting that this is the first time the Department of Culture of the Municipality of Pelarco has developed an initiative of this kind.
