A new video showed the moment when Hernán Meneses Leal, an 18-year-old student who was involved in the deadly attack at the Instituto Obispo Silva Lezaeta in Calama, assaulted the victims. According to information gathered by TVN Red Antofagasta, the accused allegedly entered the school late with a pass and immediately headed to the bathroom. In that context, the victims approached to see what was happening.
The footage shows the young man leaving the area dressed in black and wearing a hood. However, upon seeing the staff members, he immediately sprayed them with pepper spray and then attacked them with a knife. What is known about the case in Calama is that Meneses assaulted two staff members and three students.
María Victoria Reyes, one of the inspectors, died on the spot due to the severity of her injuries. The perpetrator of the attack will be formally charged during the day on Tuesday.
