Since the dawn of the republic, the residences of the presidents have generated news. An example of this was the plan by former President Boric's government to acquire the residences of Salvador Allende and Patricio Aylwin, which did not persist due to the unconstitutional nature of the acquisition process for the former residence. Allende's residence on Guardia Vieja currently operates as a home for the elderly, while the residence of the former DC president remains vacant and available for sale, according to Miguel Aylwin, son of the former head of state.
At the time of the coup, Augusto Pinochet lived on Laura de Noves Street in Las Condes, which still remains a private residence today. He then moved to Presidente Errázuriz 4240, which now functions as a "branch" of the Army's Welfare Division. On the other hand, President Ricardo Lagos lived during his term at Luis Amundsen 2238, a house owned by former senator and chancellor Gabriel Valdés.
This property was sold to the construction company Sigro, which demolished the building and transformed it into an apartment complex.
