The Chilean Antarctic Institute (INACH) announces the return of its Science and Chocolate cycle, a scientific outreach initiative aimed at bringing Antarctic knowledge closer to the Magallanes community through engaging talks in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere accompanied by a cup of hot chocolate. This well-established space in the Institute's annual programming takes place on the last Wednesday of each month and gathers researchers to share their studies and experiences about Antarctica, promoting dialogue between science and the public. The first session of the year will be held in person on Wednesday, March 25, at 6:30 PM at the INACH headquarters (Plaza Muñoz Gamero 1055) and will be led by Elías Barticevic Cornejo, a researcher from the Scientific Department of INACH and part of the team for the Antarctic Natural Laboratory Node Project.

During this session, the professional will present a talk titled "Survey Results: Antarctica in the Hearts of the Residents of Punta Arenas and Puerto Williams. " The event will reveal the main findings of a survey developed as part of the Antarctic Node project, funded by the National Agency for Research and Development (ANID). The study uncovers a complex and multifaceted perception of Antarctica, where the White Continent is seen as a key element in the collective identity of the residents of Punta Arenas and Puerto Williams, although often with a connection that is more symbolic than practical.

The invitation is to participate in this first Science and Chocolate event and to be part of a meeting space where science is shared closely, fostering interest and reflection on the role of Antarctica in the region. INACH is a technical body of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with full autonomy regarding scientific, technological, and outreach matters related to Antarctica. INACH adheres to the National Antarctic Policy, encouraging the development of excellent research, effectively participating in the Antarctic Treaty System and related forums, strengthening Magallanes as a gateway to the White Continent, and conducting outreach actions to disseminate Antarctic knowledge to the public.

INACH organizes the National Antarctic Science Program (PROCIEN).
