"20 Years of Struggle": The Emotion of Beneficiaries After the Delivery of 81 Homes in Yumbel Families from the San Sebastián housing complex highlighted the organizational process that allowed them to access a definitive housing solution in the commune. The delivery of homes from the San Sebastián housing project in Yumbel was marked by testimonies from its beneficiaries, who recounted the extensive process they faced to achieve access to a permanent housing solution. This involved 81 families who received their homes yesterday as part of an initiative from the Ministry of Housing and Urbanism (Minvu), which includes green areas, children's playgrounds, a central park, and a multipurpose room.
The most significant moment of the day was marked by the stories of the beneficiaries themselves. Fabiola Bravo, one of the residents of the housing complex, described the process as a prolonged wait, filled with years of effort and organization. "20 years of struggle, of strength, of waiting, so finally our end of having our own house has come.
I am very happy, and so are all my neighbors," she expressed. Her testimony reflects a lengthy process marked by multiple administrative and organizational stages, where the delivery represents not only access to a home but also the closure of a wait that extended for decades. From the leadership of the housing committee, the collective nature of the process was also emphasized.
Juana Pino, president of the San Sebastián Committee, highlighted the constant participation of families and the impact this work had on their immediate surroundings. "I am very happy for myself, for the families, for my children who were also part of it. They grew up with the committee, many meetings, so I am proud of what we also did as leaders for these families," she noted.
The leader referred to an organizational process that involved not only those formally part of the committee but also their families, who accompanied the development of the efforts over the years. According to the Biobío Seremi of Housing and Urbanism, the project includes 81 homes and an investment of over 4 billion pesos, incorporating community infrastructure aimed at life in the new neighborhood. The initiative is part of housing programs aimed at addressing the housing deficit in the region, through coordination between social organizations, the municipality, and the Ministry of Housing and Urbanism.
On this day, the testimonies of the beneficiaries set the tone, highlighting the time that has passed and the significance of finally accessing a definitive home.
