Two Foreigners Arrested with Drugs on Route 5 South: One Had an Active Expulsion Order Specialized personnel from OS7 "Los Ángeles" seized nearly 4 kilograms of cocaine during a control operation on an interprovincial bus over the long weekend. As part of the preventive services and enhanced inspections implemented during the Holy Week long weekend, Carabineros from OS7 Los Ángeles arrested two foreign nationals for drug trafficking after an operation conducted on Route 5 South. The procedure was part of focused deployments maintained by the specialized unit to neutralize the transport of illicit substances along the country's main routes, especially during periods of high vehicle traffic.
During a random inspection of buses and private vehicles, conducted with the support of a drug detection dog and personnel from the Saltos del Laja Carabineros station, an interprovincial bus was checked, where the canine alerted to the possible presence of illicit substances in the luggage of two passengers. Based on this signal, specialized personnel from OS7 Los Ángeles conducted the corresponding search, managing to seize nearly 4 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride, and arrested the two individuals, who were Colombian and Venezuelan nationals. One detail that particularly caught the attention of the police officers was that one of the detainees had an active expulsion order from the country, a situation that was reported to the Public Prosecutor's Office as part of the investigation.
Carabineros highlighted that this result is the fruit of operational work and control deployed by OS7 Los Ángeles, in coordination with territorial personnel, aimed at reinforcing the safety of those traveling on Route 5 South and simultaneously preventing the transport of drugs to various points in the country. By instruction of the Public Prosecutor's Office, both suspects were brought before the Guarantee Court for their respective detention control. Subsequently, the court ordered preventive detention, considering that their release poses a danger to public safety.
