A traffic accident that occurred this morning in the Pudahuel commune between a water truck and a RED bus resulted in the death of one person. The cause of the accident is under investigation by the Carabineros' SIAT. The public transport bus crossed the central axis of the roadway and collided head-on with the truck.
As a consequence, one passenger died, and five others sustained injuries of varying severity, including the bus driver, who has serious injuries and was urgently taken to a medical facility. The rest of the injured are passengers, and the truck driver has minor injuries to an arm but is not in any life-threatening condition, said Major Harold Dunker, Commissioner of the 26th Pudahuel Police Station. Preliminary information indicates that the steering wheel of the public transport bus may have jammed, leading to the fatal accident.
The Transporte Informa platform reported traffic disruptions due to the accident: "Traffic restriction on Camino San Pablo Antiguo, between the Las Mercedes interchange and Route 68 towards Santiago, near the Parque Canaan Cemetery in Pudahuel; due to a serious accident with several injured people.
