Chilean Cristian Garin (100th ATP) achieved a significant victory in the qualifying round of the Monte Carlo Masters 1000, defeating Dutch player Jasper de Jong (99th). Garin's win came in three sets with scores of 7-5, 1-6, and 6-1 in one hour and 45 minutes of play. The match started evenly, with both players winning their respective serves until Garin managed to break his opponent's serve in the eleventh game, then confirming his own serve to take the set in 49 minutes.

However, the situation changed dramatically in the second set as De Jong broke Garin's serve twice to secure the advantage and close the set in his favor in 33 minutes. But Garin did not falter, and in the third set, he jumped to a 5-0 lead thanks to two breaks, finishing the set 6-1 in just 23 minutes. The Chilean is now waiting for a time to play the qualifying final against Georgian Nikoloz Basilashvili (129th), who defeated German Jan-Lennard Struff (75th) with scores of 6-3 and 6-3.

This is a good victory for Garin, who is recovering from an injury that kept him out of the circuit for several weeks.
